The Diamond Shape Up

Round Diamond Engagement Ring

The market conditions for diamonds are very interesting at the moment.  Prices are at their strongest in over a decade. Diamonds up to two carats are doing very well in the United States because the bridal market remains strong.

Round diamonds are always the most popular shape diamond and bring a premium compared to the last several years.  Simply put, round diamonds are classic and always in demand, but they appear to be particularly hot right now.  Fancy shape diamonds (any diamond that is not round) have advanced in value as well, but not quite as quickly as round diamonds.

We have gotten very strong offers for princess cut, emerald cut and radiant diamonds making our clients happy.  Oval diamonds and pear shape diamonds, if nicely made are also bringing strong prices.  There is much more to a diamond and it’s value than the 4 C’s.  Polish, symmetry and fluorescence are just some of the details that the market responds to.

Diamonds over 2 carats are bringing world record prices right now.  I am not saying that you are going to make a profit based upon the retail price you paid, but it is possible depending upon the diamond and when and where it was purchased. We can help you maximize your diamonds potential cash value. We bought a 4.10 carat emerald cut diamond today.  Our price came to a $10,000 profit for our client above his initial cost.

Recently, we helped a client effectively market a 7.22 old mine cut diamond that was very dark in color (U-V). The demand for even these diamonds brings in a great price.  Diamonds are doing amazingly well at the moment and now is a good time to consider selling your diamonds and jewelry.
